ACTIVITIES

The activities of Choir of Chios are various. Apart from the concerts on Chios, the rest of Greece and abroad,

• It has released the following CDs:

1. Our Lord’s Passion (1995)
2. Welcome abroad to our trip tonight as well (1997)
3. Just to travel (double 1998)

• It has republished the book “Greek Folk Melodies of Chios island” by Hubert Pernot harmonized by Paul le Flem

Homeric Intellectual Centre of the Municipality of Chios

 

• It has assigned to the composer Michael Adamis the choral elaboration of folk songs of Chios included in the above book
• In 1993, with the financing by the European Social Fund it organized a seminar of “vocational training of coir members”
• It has worked with the composers Michael Adamis, Stephen Vassileiadis, Demetrios Lagios and Chris Tsiamoulis, with the soloists Demetrios Sgouros, Leonidas Kavakos, P. Nagy and Dora Bacopoiloi with the maestros Sotiris Alevizos, Anthony Kontogeorgiou, S. Klapsis, Vasilis Papakonstantinou, W. Patrikidis, with the soprano Maria Thoma, with the man of letters Matthew Mounde, with the actresses Eva Kotamanidou and Olga Tournaki, eith the singer Pantelis Thalassinos.
• From 14^th until 19^th May 1999 the Choir of Chios organised in collaboration with the Homeric Intellectual Centre of the Municipality of Chios and the Panchian Association of Music Education “Harmony” the 8^th Panhellenic convention of choirs.
