Trahilia
consists of two bays. The pebbly beach and the small narrow passage are
amazingly beautiful. The very few houses of fishermen are the only human
interventions into the landscape. The visitor can swim next to the fishing
boats and enjoy the clearness of the sea. If someone fishes for a hobby,
with a boat or with a fishing-rifle, he will definitely be happy to have
a walk at the dentelated and rugged coastlines that expand on both sides
of the beach.
Avlonia
is a very beautiful beach next to trahilia. One can reach it by following
the same route and turning on the right at the first road he meets. Avlonia
is a closed bay. The landscape is very calm since it still retains its
naturalness. Apart from two small houses, nothing reminds us of the roughness
of human civilization. The water is very clear and, especially in summertime,
always calm.
Apothika (4.5 kilometres)
Taking
the route to Limenas you turn on the left across the last house of the
village. As soon as you face the sea, you leave the asphalt and take the
earthroad on the right. In Apothika, a very clean beach, you will live
some time close to the nature. There is no human intervention. Even the
road stops in some 100 metres form the beach. Apothika is the favourite
beach of the natives and all the tourists who have been there before because
of the calmness of the sea, the clearness of the shore and its sensational
tranquility.

II. North
coasts

Merikounta (4 kilometres)
Following
the route to Limenas you turn on the left exactly across the pump-house.
In Merikounta you have the chance to enjoy a unique sandy beach and to
swim literally in Aegean sea since the sea meets the edge of horizon. If
you love deep emotion make sure you see the sunset in Merikounta.
Limenas (4 kilometres)
Limenas
is the most organized beach of Mesta. There is a port for merchant and
passenger ships and a smaller one for fishing boats, skiffs and yachts.
Those who have brought their boat with them should not fail to report to
the Port Police of Limenas. In Limenas after the permission of EOT (National
Tourist Organization) one can find <accomodation>. In the taverns of
Limenas many nice titbits are offered but most of all fresh fish. The left
part of Limenas is appropriate for swimming. There are two small and clean
beaches where one can enjoy tranquility.
Didyma (5.5 kilometres)
From
Limenas the route to Elata leads to "twin beaches". They are completely
alike. Those who are interested in fishing will leave the place satisfied.
Didyma can also be reached by boat, by those who own one. In this case
the small beautiful white-pebbled, green-watered shore is enjoyable. It
is called "asprohalika" and it is on the right side of the coast as one
enters the bay from the sea.
