I visited this site because I know that my grandfather's family on my mother's side originally came from Chios. I don't know terribly much about it but I would love to find out if there are any (even distant) relatives still there. My grandfather's name was Kossena, and I notice in the business directory that there are a few (no email address though). I would love to hear from any Kossenas around. Hello, Chios from Torquay. My grandfather was born in Chios and was also called Panagiotis Skrivanos. Quite some time ago he moved to England where he set up a successful restuarant and had a large family. My relations in Chios include many families in Chora itself such as the Klimi and Kanavari families. Last year, for the first time, at the age of sixteen I came to Chios for three weeks and have fallen in love with it, especially the clubs in Chora such as 'La Loca' and 'Next Skiniko'. This is a great web site. It helped me before my visit and I hope it can help me now. My father was Louis Elias (Elias Monios), born on Chios 1908, the son of Dimitrios Monios and Ypatia Kampanlas. I was fortunate to be able to visit Chios in March, and was graciously welcomed by my father's cousin, Lucas Monios. I want to send him a thank you note and some pictures of our visit, but am having trouble getting an address. My family orginally came from Anavatos. My great grandfather to spare the village, had to leave for Egypt as he had killed the son of the Sultan during the occupation diffending our village. I am very proud to be a Chiotis and a Hellene, I would never give up my Hellenic identety and embrace any other citizenship. I have lived in the USA on and off for 30 years and would never become an American. I urge Greek/Americans to give up their US citizenship, come back to the Hellenic fold, you can still live in the USA for as long as you want nobody will bother you. you will be a resident alien (green card), you will have all the rights you had except to vote. Then why do you want to vote? the American government has never been a friend of Greece. God bless Chios and all Hellenes no matter where they are in the World.
